McLeod drops 18 at No. 10 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The ACU women's basketball team showed a lot of grit and heart, battling with the No. 10 Aggies of Texas A&M on Sunday evening at Reed Arena. Despite falling 77-59, the Wildcats stayed within 25 points the entire night, hit 11 three-pointers, and forced 16 turnovers. Redshirt senior Anna McLeod dropped a game-high 18 points and hit four triples, a game-best as well. ACU drops to 5-1 with the loss and will come home next Tuesday night against UT-Tyler.

  • Alyssa Adams scored ACU's first points of the night on a fast-break layup, and the Wildcats trailed 4-2 early.
  • Madi Miller hit the game's first three-pointer to make it 6-5 A&M.
  • The Aggies scored the final 10 points of the first quarter, leading 16-5 after 10 minutes.
  • Kamryn Mraz hit a three-pointer, and McLeod hit back-to-back triples to get a little momentum for ACU, cutting the deficit to 21-14 in the second quarter.

I was really proud of the way we fought. We worked really hard, we got ourselves a lot of good looks on offense, we did what we wanted to do, but we just couldn't get the shots to fall. That was really the whole difference tonight. But that's a really good team, and I'm proud of the way our girls played.
