Women’s basketball hosts UNO, heads to Nicholls this week

ABILENE – The ACU women's basketball team takes its three-game winning streak into the Southland Conference portion of the schedule this week as it gets set for a pair of games. The Wildcats (7-1) host the New Orleans Privateers on Wednesday before traveling to Thibodaux, La. on Saturday to take on the Nicholls Colonels. The two league games this week are part of the new 20-game Southland schedule this season. ACU will resume conference play on Jan. 4.

SERIES HISTORY (vs. NEW ORLEANS)
- The teams are getting together for the eighth time, with ACU holding a dominant 6-1 edge in the series. The Wildcats have won five straight against the Privateers, and hold a 3-0 edge in games played in Abilene. The teams met two seasons ago in Katy, Texas during the Southland Conference Tournament, with ACU winning 88-66.

SERIES HISTORY (vs. NICHOLLS)
- ACU leads the series 4-2 against the Colonels after holding on for a win in Abilene last season. The game was moved to Hardin-Simmons University due to Moody Coliseum being used for ACU's annual "Sing Song." The teams have split the last two seasons, and ACU leads the series 3-1 in games played in Thibodaux, La.
 

ACU STORYLINES
- ACU is up to No. 15 in the latest Mid Major Poll, as released Tuesday.
- The Wildcats are coming off a 73-point win on Saturday against Schreiner University, the third-largest margin of victory in program history, and the largest in the team's Division I era. ACU beat Southwestern Adventist on Jan. 12, 2013 by a score of 108-21 (87 points). The second-highest margin came against Howard Payne in November of 1995 (122-42, 80 points).
- ACU shot 59% from the floor, and went 11-of-30 from distance.
- The defense held Schreiner to just 27% from the floor and 0-of-13 from the three-point line, forced 33 turnovers, and scored 53 off turnovers.
- The 110 points scored was the second-most in the Division I era as well.
- ACU leads the country in scoring at 89.8 points per game, and is second in the nation in scoring margin at +34.3 points per game.
- The 52.0% shooting from the field leads the nation as well, and the 10.6 three-point field goals made per game ranks fourth in America.
- ACU ranks fourth in the country in steals per game at 14.0 as well.
- Dominique recently joined the 1,000-point club in the win against Tulsa on Dec. 5, and has tallied 1,025 career points.
- Lexie Ducat is shooting 67.2% from the floor, which ranks fifth in all of women's college basketball.
