ABILENE— The Wildcats returned home for their fourth match in seven days to host Houston Baptist on Tuesday night. The Huskies came into the match after a 2-0 weekend that put them above .500 in the conference standings, while ACU dropped two matches on the road last weekend to put them at 3-7 in conference play.
The match had a slow feel to it as each team struggled to get into an offensive rhythm early. The Huskies found a way to put the ball down as they outhit the Wildcats .313 to .124 in the match. Sets one and two were both close, but HBU was able to come away with each set, 25-22 and 25-20, respectively. Set three was all-HBU as they hit .560 in the set compared to .074 for ACU.
Marybeth Sandercox and
Kennedy Shelstead led the team with eight kills each, while Sandercox hit a team-high .375.
Lindsey Toney led the team in digs with nine, despite only playing two sets in the match.
Madison Rohre dished out 27 assists and totaled two digs with a block assist on the night.
