ABILENE— The Wildcats came into Tuesday night with a five-match losing streak in conference play and needed a big win to give them momentum heading into a busy week. With the New Orleans Privateers coming to Abilene, ACU stepped up to the challenge and earned a huge, three-set sweep over UNO.
The Privateers were error prone early, as they had 12 of their team's 25 hitting errors in the first set. In contrast the Wildcats had their best offensive set, hitting .364 in the set with four different players totaling multiple kills. ACU got out to a 5-0 lead in set two, but UNO battled back and pushed the set to extra points, but the Wildcats were able to come away with the 26-24 win. Up 2-0 heading to set three, the Wildcats dominated set three, hitting over .300 in the set and holding UNO to just 10 points.
Kennedy Shelstead continued her stellar play in the middle, leading the team with 11 kills on a .474 hitting percentage. Opposite Shelstead,
Lorin McNeil also had a nice game hitting .286 to go along with three block assists.
Sofia Resendiz earned her first career start at the libero position tallying 17 digs in three sets of action, anchoring the defensive effort for the Wildcats.
