ABILENE— Abilene Christian saw their road woes continue last weekend as they dropped matches to both Northwestern State and SFA. The Wildcats will look to bounce back at home, where they have had better success, when they host Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday night.
Wildcats weekend outlook
ACU has a light week as their match against SELA is their only one for the week. The team will have a four-day break after Thursday's match before another home match next Tuesday, hosting New Orleans. Southeastern sits at 3-3 in Southland play while the Wildcats sit just behind them in the rankings at 2-4.
Marybeth Sandercox saw her run of six straight matches hitting .429 or better come to an end at SFA, but her stellar play has vaulted her into the top ten in the SLC for hitting percentage as she is hitting .289 on the season.

Kennedy Shelstead are both ranked in the top ten of the conference in blocks per set.
The blocking matchup looks positive for the Wildcats as ACU averages over two blocks per set and the Lady Lions are giving up over two blocks per set. It could be a huge advantage if the Wildcats can shut down some of the top hitters for SELA. The Wildcats also average slightly more digs than the Lady Lions, giving ACU the defensive advantage for the match.
Scouting the opponent
Southeastern has three different players averaging over two kills per set with Jodi Edo ranked in the top five of the Southland hitting .303 as a middle blocker. Edo is also ranked in the conference for blocks per set at 1.0 per set. The team has wins over Lamar, McNeese, and Nicholls while dropping matches to AMCC, Northwestern State, and Sam Houston. The Lady Lions have played in two five-set thrillers with both AMCC and Nicholls, splitting those matches. The team was swept in each of their last two conference matches.
