NACOGDOCHES – Senior
Brianna Barnhill's second-inning solo home run was the only bit of offense for Abilene Christian in its 3-1 loss Sunday at Stephen F. Austin.
The Wildcats fell to 23-25 on the season and 15-12 Southland Conference following today's defeat, while the Ladyjacks improved to 31-20 and 18-9 SLC. ACU will next face Northwestern State in the first round of the Southland Conference Championships Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Lake Charles, La.
Barnhill smashed her second home run of the series over the right field fence to give ACU an early 1-0 lead, but the Ladyjacks answered with two runs in the third and one in the fourth which were enough to salvage the final game of their three-game series.
Freshman pitcher
Calie Burris was charged with the loss after giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits while walking three.
Hannah Null tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in relief striking out three and giving up just one hit.
