Abilene Christian is commemorating the 50th anniversary of Moody Coliseum throughout Saturday's doubleheader vs. Central Arkansas ... The first game played here took place Feb. 27, 1968, but the inception of the women's team didn't take place until the 1971-72 school year ... The women's team's all-time record at Moody Coliseum is 408-124 (.767) ... Their 400th home win took place earlier this season on Dec. 9 after beating Howard Payne (88-46), and they played their 500th home game on Feb. 10, 2016 vs. Sam Houston State ... ACU is 12-1 at home this season, extending their home winning streak to 16 consecutive seasons ... The Wildcats last finished under .500 at home in 2001-02 (4-8).
A victory Saturday over Central Arkansas or loss by Southeastern Louisiana at Northwestern State. will put the Wildcats into the Southland Conference Tournament, which accepts the league's best eight teams ... The Wildcats can still finish in the top four, which would earn them first-round tournament bye; however, they go into Saturday's game 2.0 games behind third-place UCA (11-4), and a half-game behind fourth-place New Orleans (10-6) ... ACU also is tied with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for fifth place at 9-6 with 8-7 Nicholls and 7-8 McNeese close behind ... Southeastern La. is 6-9.
