FT. COLLINS, Colo. – The ACU Wildcats are back on the road Saturday and will once again be taking on a Mountain West Conference opponent, this time the Rams of Colorado State. ACU opened its season last Saturday with a 38-14 loss at New Mexico and is 0-1 on the year, while the Rams are 1-1 after a season-opening 58-27 win over Oregon State, followed by a 17-3 loss to intra-state rival Colorado last weekend.
Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for 2:30 p.m. (Abilene time / 1:30 p.m. Colorado time) from Colorado State's new on-campus stadium. The game will be broadcast on 98.1 FM The Ticket (98theticket.com) and can be seen on the Mountain West Network (see link above).
Saturday is Colorado State's annual "Ag Day" game as the university celebrates its Aggie heritage. Formerly the Colorado A&M (Agricultural and Mechanical), the Rams jerseys on Saturday will represent the school's oringal colors of pumpkin and alfalfa instead of its normal green and gold. The Rams are 7-0 while donning the orange uniforms with wins over Idaho (2010), Northern Colorado (2011), Hawai'i (2012), UTEP (2013), Tulsa (2014), Savannah State (2015), and Northern Colorado (2016).
After opening the season with back-to-back road games against Mountain West Conference opponents in New Mexico and Colorado State, the Wildcats will be in Abilene next weekend to open Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium with a 6 p.m. Southland Conference contest against Houston Baptist.
