ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's basketball is back home at Moody Coliseum for one game Saturday vs. Sam Houston State. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and fans unable to make it to the game can still follow all the action via live stats, video stream, or on 98.1 FM – The Ticket with Grant Boone handling the play-by-play.

ACU has won its last five games and comes into this weekend's contest at 14-7 overall and tied for first place in the Southland Conference with Stephen F. Austin at 7-1. The Wildcats also are 9-2 at home this season, while the Bearkats sit at 1-18 overall and 1-8 vs. the league with their lone win coming against Southeastern Louisiana.

The Wildcats and Bearkats have squared off 16 times previously and ACU leads the all-time series 10-6, having won four of the last five games since 2013-14. ACU also has defeated Sam Houston State in three straight games and swept last year's season series, winning by scores of 87-76 and 67-55.

ACU was last in action Wednesday night at Corpus Christi, where it bounced back from a 19-8 first quarter deficit to defeat the Islanders, 72-59, at the American Bank Center. The Wildcats outscored the Islanders 64-40 over the final three quarters, shot 50 percent for the fifth time this season, and set a season low with 10 turnovers.

The starting lineup was responsible for all but five points as the four seniors reached double figures in scoring. Alexis Mason led all scorers with 19 points, followed by Lizzy Dimba (14), Suzzy Dimba (13) and  Sydney Shelstead (12). Freshman point guard Breanna Wright was right behind them with nine points on 3-4 shooting from 3-point range.

Mason's 19 points vs. the Islanders pushed her into the Wildcats' all-time top-10 leaderboard in scoring with 1,474 points through 105 career games. Her performance, which included a 4-of-8 effort from 3-point range, allowed her to surpass Caroline Omamo (1,461) for 10th place in the school record book, and now she needs 11 points to tied Alex Guiton for ninth place (1,485 points).

The victory additionally served as head coach Julie Goodenough's 96th triumph since joining the Wildcats bench, tying her with Wayne Williams (96-70, .578) for fourth place on ACU's all-time wins list. Goodenough is 96-42 in five seasons with the Wildcats, and she needs to win 21 more games to tie Suzanne Fox for third place. Fox won 117 games in five seasons with the Wildcats between 1992-97.

Burl McCoy remains the program leader with 299 wins accumulated during a 16-year career that lasted between 1976-92 and Shawna Lavender (2003-12) is second with 149 victories.

The Wildcats are back on the road next week with a Wednesday night game at Central Arkansas, followed by a Saturday home game on Feb. 11 vs. Northwestern State.
