ABILENE – The ACU Wildcats return home to Moody Coliseum Saturday to take on Schreiner in a non-conference contest set for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
The Wildcats are back at home after taking two of three games and the tournament championship last weekend at the Creek Classic, hosted by Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. Junior forward Jaren Lewis – who averaged 16.7 points per game in the three games – was voted the tournament MVP. Junior point guard Jaylen Franklin was also voted to the all-tournament team.
Lewis leads the Wildcats in scoring at 15.4 ppg, followed closley by sophomore center Jalone Friday at 15.3 ppg and graduate transfer guard Tevin Foster at 14.4 ppg. Franklin is averaging 11.0 ppg to give the Wildcats four players in double figure scoring on the season.
Schreiner, meanwhile, is 2-4 on the season, but has three players averaging in double figures in senior guard Keenan Gumbs (19.8 ppg), senior guard Blake Kelley (17.2 ppg) and junior guard Josh Bashford (10.2 ppg). Kelley is injured and will not play today against the Wildcats.
ACU has never lost a game against the Mountaineers in eight all-time games.
