ABILENE – Fans heading to campus for Saturday's homecoming football game are invited to stay and cheer on ACU Volleyball during its annual rivalry match vs. Incarnate Word. The match begins at 7 p.m. and free admission will be offered to all patrons.

The Wildcats' contest vs. the Cardinals is the second of two matches on this week's homestand as ACU will first play host to the defending Southland Conference champions from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday at 6 p.m.

ACU enters the weekend on the outside of the playoff picture. The Southland takes its top eight teams to the league tournament, and the Wildcats currently sit in 10th place at 2-5 following a 0-3 road trip to McNeese, Nicholls and Houston Baptist. ACU will hit the halfway point of its 16-match conference slate following its match with the Islanders.

The Cardinals are a game ahead of ACU in the win column at 3-6, while the Islanders are fifth at 6-3 behind Sam Houston State (7-0), Stephen F. Austin (7-1), HBU (6-2) and Central Arkansas (6-2).

ACU remains the Southland's second-best blocking team to the Huskies, 2.56 to 2.53, and claim two of the league's leading blockers in freshman
Lorin McNeil and junior
Lauren Walker. McNeil ranks second with 1.20 stuffs per set and Walker is seventh with 1.06.

Amanda Chapa is No. 2 in digs with 4.61 per set after digging out a career high 31 attacks last Saturday in the 3-1 loss at Houston Baptist. Junior setter
Kendall Bosse is eighth with 8.17 assists per set, and junior outside hitter
Jacey Smith recently cracked the top-10 in service aces with 0.32 per set.
