ABILENE - Abilene Christian University debuts its Basketball Band in time for the women's basketball's 2 p.m. game against McNeese. This is the first of eight home games the band is scheduled to perform, and will certainly energize an arena that already draws some of the biggest crowds across the Southland Conference.

The McNeese contest also serves as the program's annual Alumni Day.  Check in for the alumni begins at 10 a.m. in Gym C of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center with the Alumni Game tipping off at 10:30 a.m. The Alumni Game will be followed by a 'Where Are They Now?' session between the former players, and after the Wildcats' game vs. the Cowgirls, an alumni reception will be held at 4 p.m. in the lower level of the McGlothlin Campus Center.

Registration details can be found here.

Saturday's game is the fourth all-time meeting between McNeese and Abilene Christian with the Wildcats leading the series, 2-1. ACU also is 1-1 against the Cowgirls at Moody Coliseum. The Wildcats lost their first game here to McNeese, 71-64, but won last season's contest, 79-62. In between, ACU won its lone appearance at Burton Coliseum during the 2014-15 season, 75-59.

The Wildcats have won their last three games, including two on the road, and come into this game at 12-7 overall and tied for first place with Stephen F. Austin at 6-1. Yesterday ACU won its seventh-straight game against Incarnate Word, 75-66, behind its third-consecutive second-half comeback, rallying from a five-point third-quarter deficit.

The Wildcats tied a season best with 13 3-pointers (13-26 vs. Central Arkansas, 13-38 vs. Sul Ross) and established a season high with 42 3-point field goal attempts. This was ACU's highest single-game total for 3-point attempts since shooting up 45 triples in a January 2014 game vs. Lamar. The school record of 50 3-point attempts was set against Arlington Baptist in Feb. of 2014.

Individually, Lizzy Dimba scored 16 points with four treys that tied her career high and Alexis Mason scored over 20 points for the third-straight game after making 5-of-13 long-distance shots. Mason additionally tied a career high with 20 field-goal attempts.

Suzzy Dimba blocked five shots in 26 minutes and finished a rebound shy of a double-double, and junior Sierra Allen helped the Wildcats keep their distance with seventh four-quarter points on 3-of-3 shooting. Allen's 3-pointer with 2:30 remaining gave the Wildcats a 10-point lead for the first time since the end of the first quarter.

The Cowgirls are 10-9 overall and 5-3 vs. the league following yesterday's 71-59 home loss vs. New Orleans. McNeese's other two conference losses were against league leaders Stephen F. Austin (96-65) and Central Arkansas (67-52), while its wins have come against Northwestern State, Sam Houston, Southeastern Louisiana, and Houston Baptist.

McNeese is averaging 71.9 points and 43.7 rebounds per game led by the likes of Victoria Rachal (9.9 ppg) and Frederica Haywood (9.6 rpg).
