THIBODAUX, La. — The ACU Wildcats are back on the road tonight for a Southland Conference matchup against the Nicholls Colonels at Stopher Gym.
The game is set for an 8 p.m. tipoff and is scheduled to be broadcast by American Sports Network. Fans in Abilene can listen on 98.1 FM (98theticket.com online) and can be seen on DirecTV (665-1) or on Dish Network on channels 442/9580. Lynn Rollins will call the play-by-play action, while Victor Howell will provide the game analysis. The game can also be seen online at southlanddigitalnetwork.com.
ACU is 8-9 overall and 2-4 in the conference after beating Lamar, 67-64, last Saturday at home, winning the game on
Payten Ricks' buzzer-beating half-court 3-pointer.
Sophomore
Jaren Lewis paces ACU's offense with 14.2 points per game. Lewis has scored in double figures in all but one game in conference, highlighted by a 19-point effort in the opener against New Orleans.
Nicholls is 9-9 and 2-3, but has lost three straight games (Sam Houston State, Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin) after opening league play with a pair of wins over Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Colonels will be playing without their leading scorer De'Andre Harris, who was dismissed from the team after several on-court incidents, including one in the win over Northwestern State.
Ja'Dante' Frye is the Colonels' leading active scorer at 15.8 points per game, followed by Johnathan Bell at 12.4 ppg.
Nicholls leads the short all-time series against ACU, 2-1, with both wins coming in Thibodaux. Last season the Colonels held off the Wildcats, 63-62, in their only meeting.
