ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's tennis pushed its win streak to four matches Friday following a home doubleheader sweep of Temple and McMurry on the outdoor courts of the Eager Tennis Pavilion.
The Wildcats improved to 10-4 on the season, while the Owls and War Hawks slipped to 5-4 and 4-4.
ACU held pm at No. 3 doubles to win the first point vs. Temple and in singles were forced to three sets at the No. 1 and 3 positions. Former Southland Conference Player of the Week and sophomore
Lucile Pothier rallied from a set down to beat Monet Stuckey-Willis, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2, and at No. 1, junior
Erin Walker claimed the match-clinching point over Alina Abdurakhimova, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
Pothier has won her last four singles matches dating back to Jan. 30 and is now second on the team with 10 wins behind senior
Nada Marjanovic, who today improved to 13-2 with consecutive straight-set wins at the No. 4 position.
Sophomore
Whitney Williams also scored a singles' win against Temple, beating Minami Okajima at the No. 5 position, 6-3, 6-4.
ACU split its first two doubles matches vs. the Owls. The No. 1 ACU team of Williams and Walker doubled up Anais Nussaume and Stuckey-Willis, 6-3, but then Pothier and senior
Kaysie Hermsdorf fell 6-4 to Dina Karina and Alina Abdurakhimova.
At No. 3 doubles, ACU's Marjanovic and sophomore
Andrea Crook lost an early lead but recoved in time to beat Okajima and Yana Khon, 7-6. Crook and Marjanovic have won their last four matches together in improving to 8-2.
Hermsdorf and Pothier lead the Wildcats in doubles with 11 victories.

Hutton Jones shuffled his singles' lineup a little bit against the War Hawks and debuted Crook at No. 1, where she pulled out a 6-3, 1-6, 10-1 win over Chloe Patterson. Her teammates Hermsdorf, Pothier, Marjanovic,
Jordan Henry and
Ansley Boarman, however, all played their everyday positions and posted straight-set victories in which all the scores were either 6-1 or 6-0.
ACU vanquished McMurry in doubles as well, winning by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0.
The Wildcats return to action next Saturday (March 12) at home for the start of their third Southland Conference season vs. Stephen F. Austin. Match time is 1 p.m.
