Game Notes
ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's basketball concludes its short two-game homestand Saturday, Nov. 10 with a 2 p.m. game vs. Harding, which was a full-time member of the Lone Star Conference alongside the Wildcats from 1995-2000. ACU and the Bisons met four times during that span and the Wildcats enter this meeting – their first in 16 years – with a 3-1 series lead.
Live stats are offered for Saturday's contest, which will then be followed by the men's team taking on Northern New Mexico College at approximately 4:30 p.m. There also will be a video stream for both ends of the doubleheader and live audio on 98.1 FM – The Ticket.
ACU (3-5) is in the midst of a four-game losing streak – its longest in two seasons – but has received stellar play as of late from sophomore guard
Sara Williamson and junior forward
Sierra Allen.
Williamson recorded her first complete game last Saturday vs. UMKC, playing all 45 minutes of an overtime loss (71-68) to the Kangaroos. This feat made her the first Wildcat to play more than 40 minutes since both
Alexis Mason and
Lizzy Dimba totaled 41 during a Jan. 17, 2015 overtime loss at home to Stephen F. Austin. She also is the first Wildcat to play all 45 minutes in a single overtime game since Alex Guiton did on Feb. 4, 2006 at Midwestern State (L, 72-77)
A native of Rockwall, Texas, Williamson additionally dished out a single-game career high nine assists vs. the 'Roos, which were the most by any Wildcat since Renata Marquez had nine vs. Texas A&M-Kingsville on March 2, 2013.
Allen continued to provide the Wildcats a hot hand off the bench after scoring 11 points in 23 minutes vs. UMKC. She made 5-of-7 attempts and was 1-of-2 from the arc in recording her team-best fifth game in double figures.
Allen's 8.5 points per game ranks 27th in the Southland Conference, but her .518 shooting percentage ranks sixth, and her .474 3-point shooting percentage is the 37th highest in the nation (fifth in Southland).
Harding is off to a 6-2 start with four of those victories coming against the Great American Conference. The Bisons are led in the scoring column by Sydney Layrock (13.5 ppg), Caroline Hogue (12.1 ppg, 9.8 rpg) and A'ndrea Haney (10.5 ppg, 43 assists).
