NEW ORLEANS -- The ACU Wildcats get Southland Conference play started this weekend with a pair of road games in southern Louisiana as they take on New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana.

Thursday night's game against New Orleans at Lakefront Arena will get started at approximately 7:30 p.m., and that will be followed by Saturday afternoon's 2 p.m. tipoff against Southeastern Louisiana at the University Center in Hammond, La. Both games will be broadcast on 98.1 FM The Ticket and can be heard online at 98theticket.com.

The Wildcats are 6-5 entering conference play, the first time they've been above .500 entering league play since the 2012-13 season, their final year as NCAA Division II members of the Lone Star Conference. ACU boasts the eighth-leading scorer in the league in sophomore Jaren Lewis (15.5 points per game), as well as the league's stingiest scoring defense (70.2 points per game allowed). Lewis is also eighth in the league in rebounding at 6.8 boards per contest.

After the two road games to open league play, the Wildcats have four straight contests at home in the friendly confines of Moody Coliseum where they are 4-1 this season and 14-5 over the last two seasons. ACU will open that home stretch on Thursday, Jan. 5, with a 7 p.m. game against Central Arkansas, followed by a nationally televised game against three-time defending league champion Stephen F. Austin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.

The Wildcats will then host Southeastern Louisiana at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, followed by a 4 p.m. game against Lamar on Saturday, Jan. 14. Following that stretch of home games, the Wildcats will go on the road for three more games before finally returning home to take on New Orleans on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
