Game Notes
ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's basketball visits the campus of UTSA and its Convocation Center for the third time in four seasons Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game with the Roadrunners. UTSA is the only non-conference school ACU has played each year since its move into NCAA DI Athletics.
The game will offer live stats and be broadcast locally on 98.1 FM - The Ticket with
Seth Wilson handling the play-by-play duties.
UTSA leads the all-time series 2-1. The Roadrunners won the first two games in San Antonio by scores of 63-58 and 70-57 and ACU won last year's meeting at home, 79-60, sending UTSA to a 10-19 overall record.
ACU comes into this week with a 3-2 record after falling 71-45 at No. 25 Texas A&M Saturday night. Both of the Wildcats' losses this season have come against nationally ranked SEC competition as they also lost their season opener at No. 24 Missoui on Nov. 11. In between they won three straight home games vs. Howard Payne, Omaha and UTRGV.
The Wildcats went into halftime against the Aggies down four points at 33-39, but were outscored 38-16 in the second half and set nine season lows in the process, including total points (45), rebounds (27) and field goals attempted (43). The 45 points matched ACU's season low from a year ago at Kansas State (11/16/2015), and the 27 rebounds were the Wildcats' fewest since pulling down 26 in a 2014 loss at Texas Tech.
The Roadrunners are off to a 1-5 start with their only victory being a 70-44 decision vs. NCAA DII Texas A&M-Kingsville. Since then they've lost three straight games to Oregon, Northern Colorado and Tulane, and earlier this fall they fell to Angelo State and UT Arlington.
UTSA head coach Lubomyr Lichonczak returns six letterwinners from last season, including top scorer and rebounder Tesha Smith.
