FRISCO -- The Southland Conference and Cox Sports Television have reached a broadcast agreement that will continue partnership through the 2016-17 academic year. Cox Sports Television (CST), the Gulf South Sports Leader, will feature a minimum of 10 annual live broadcasts from the 13-team league beginning this fall with football and continuing through the conference's spring sports season.

"Cox Sports Television and the Southland Conference have enjoyed a great partnership throughout the years," said Network Head Rod Mickler. "Having a number of the conference schools in our coverage area allows us to showcase the league's talent directly in the league's backyard."

"We are thrilled to extend the Southland Conference's relationship with Cox Sports Television," league Commissioner Tom Burnett said. "CST has always proven to be a great partner for the Southland and our member institutions through the years, and we appreciate the network's leadership that continues to recognize the benefits of working together."

In October of this year, CST will be celebrating the network's 13-year anniversary. Since launch in 2002, CST has grown to nearly 5.5 million viewers, making it one of the fastest growing regional sports networks in the south. The Gulf South Sports Leader can be seen in California, Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Virginia, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Georgia and Florida. CST is owned and operated by Cox Communications Louisiana, LLC. Initially targeted to be a Louisiana sports network, CST has secured collegiate, professional and high school events that have expanded the networks reach throughout the south.

Now in its sixth decade of service, the Southland Conference continues to be a model of innovation, stability and consistent achievement as it celebrates the academic and athletic accomplishments of its member institutions.  Having commemorated its 50th anniversary in 2013, the Southland has transformed itself into a dynamic and respected consortium of 13 member universities in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.  The league sponsors 18 NCAA Division I sports and serves approximately 4,200 student-athletes, promoting their competitive success and academic achievement.

An exact 2015-16 broadcast schedule of Southland events on CST will be released at a later date.
