COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Abilene Christian men's tennis brought its four-match losing streak to an end Saturday on the indoor courts of the Air Force Academy's Cadet Gym, beating the Red Hawks of Seattle University in a neutral-site dual, 5-2.
This was a close match from start to finish as all three doubles contests were decided by two points or less, and half of the six singles matches went to a third set. ACU, however, was able to capture two three-set victories by No. 2
Jason Proctor and No. 4
Henry Adams.
Proctor defeated John Stormans, 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, while Adams sank Tanner Berkabile, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Also victorious in straight sets were sophmore
Nico Agritelley at No. 3, and junior
Marco Bensley at No. 6.
In doubles, Agritelley and senior
Guilherme Gesser clinched the coveted first point by hanging on to beat Riley Newman and Berkabile, 7-6. Moments earlier, Adams and Proctor edged Ian Clare and Matt Alderson, 6-4, while at No. 3,
Paul Domanski and Bensley were defeated, 7-6, by the tandem of Leahy and Stormans.
The Wildcats return to action with a doubleheader in Dallas on March 4, taking on both Colin County and Xavier University at the T Bar M Racquet Club. Match times are 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
