Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WACO – The ACU softball team dropped a pair of games Friday morning to put an end to its three-game winning streak, falling to North Texas and Oregon at the Baylor Invitational at Getterman Stadium.

Playing in an extremely tough field against the best competition in the history of the program, the Wildcats lost to North Texas, 3-2, early Friday morning and fell to second-ranked Oregon, 8-0, in just 4 1/2 innings.

ACU (3-6) is back on the field Saturday at 2 p.m. to take on unranked Tulsa and then again at 6:30 p.m. against seventh-ranked Baylor. ACU will close out its run in the tournament at 10 a.m. Sunday against North Texas.

Against North Texas early Friday morning, the Mean Green took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Danielle Hoff. The Wildcats, though, tied the score in the bottom of the frame when freshman shortstop Peyton Hedrick doubled, went to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.

The Mean Green (4-7) went back up 2-1 in the sixth and extended the lead to 3-1 in the top of the seventh. But ACU got to within 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh on a leadoff home run by Cara Hoover. But Stacey Underwood then retired the next three Wildcats in order to finish the game and pick up the win to improve to 2-1.

Emily Seidel (2-3) was tagged with the loss for ACU, even though she only allowed five hits and three runs and didn't walk a batter over seven complete innings.

In the Wildcats' second game of the day, Oregon pitchers Geri Ann Glasco and Cheyenne Powell combined to throw a one-hit shutout in a game that ended because of the eight-run rule. The Wildcats' only hit came on an infield single by leadoff hitter Taylor Brown in the top of the fourth inning.

Oregon (12-0) led 1-0 going to the third inning before the Ducks picked up four runs to make it 5-0. Jasmine Smithson-Willett had the big blow in the inning with a two-run double. The Ducks put an early end to the game with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 8-0.

Danica Mercado had a two-run home run to make it 7-0, and Gwen Svekis had an RBI triple to make it 8-0. Once again, Powell pitched a scoreless fifth inning to end the game. Seidel was tagged with the loss for ACU to fall to 2-4, while Glasco went four innings to pick up the win and improve to 4-0.
