The Wildcats (1-15, 1-2 Southland) began their current five-match homestand last Thursday night by snapping their season-opening losing streak with a convincing 3-0 win over Northwestern State. Saturday they were four points away from sweeping the defending regular-season champions from Stephen F. Austin, but the Ladyjacks rallied late and pulled away twice more in games four and five to escape the Key City with a hard-earned 3-2 victory.

Incarnate Word is 3-9 on the season and is currently tied with the Wildcats in conference play at 1-2 as the Cardinals followed consecutive losses to Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin with a 3-2 win over Northwestern State.
Lamar has the second-most wins of any conference team with 12, however, 10 of those have come at home, leaving them 2-4 away from Beaumont. The Cardinals are on a two-match winning streak, defeating McNeese and Nicholls by matching 3-1 scores after starting league play with a 3-1 loss to Sam Houston State.
Lamar will be well rested coming to Abilene with five days off in between matches.
Sam Houston State starts its week at 9-9 and 3-1 vs. the Southland. The Bearkats began their conference season with three straight wins over Lamar, Northwestern State and Nicholls, but couldn't make it four straight after losing 3-2 vs. McNeese.
Sam Houston will play at UIW this Thursday night before heading north to the Big Country.
