Women's Tennis slams Tigers and Panthers to begin dual season

ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's tennis made quick work of Trinity University and Prairie View A&M by matching 6-1 scores Saturday at the Teague Events Center to conclude the second and final day of the Wildcats' Indoor Invitational.

The duals were ACU's first of the spring and the victories lifted its season record to 2-0, while Trinity fell to 2-1 and Prairie View dropped to 1-3.

The Wildcats' top-five singles players and top-two doubles teams each went undefeated today against their respecitve competition with three being the most points allowed in any given singles set, and four the most earned by any doubles opponent.

Senior Brittney Reed went 2-0 at the top singles position followed by sophomore Erin Walker at No. 2, junior Kaysie Hermsdorf at No. 3, freshman Lucile Pothier at No. 4 and sophomore Ansley Boarman at No. 5.

Reed and Hermsdorf once again were paired together at No. 1 and improved to 7-0 on the young season after winning today's contests by scores of 6-2 and 6-4. Walker and Pothier were put together for the first time and won their matches by scores of 6-2 and 6-0.

The Wildcats return to action Friday, Feb. 13 for their Southland Conference season opener at home vs. New Orleans at 11:44 a.m.
