Live VideoABILENE - Abilene Christian's volleyball team will again go after its first victory of 2014 Saturday morning when they take on North Texas and host Texas State during the second day of the Delta Zeta Classic.
The two-day, four-team tournament started Friday night with Wichita State beating Texas State, 3-2, and the Mean Green edging the Shockers, 3-2. Texas State then beat UTSA, 3-1, with the first and fourth sets decided by two points.
ACU (0-4) and North Texas play Saturday's first match at 9:30 a.m. UTSA will then take to the court vs. the Shockers and then the Wildcats return to battle the Bobcats at 2 p.m.

The Wildcats come into this tournament at 0-4 after falling 3-0 Tuesday night in their home opener to UT-Arlington. Junior Jennie Loerch recorded a season-best 17 kills on 33 attempts (.394) against the Mavericks, which lifted kills per set average to 3.67. Sophomore
Lexi Mercier also hit above .300 vs. UTA and registered a solo block, one of three for the Wildcats. Senior
Taylor Nix and
Corinne Grandcolas combined for the other two.
North Texas entered the weekend at 3-1 with their lone defeat being a 3-2 decision vs. 15ht-ranked Missouri. The Mean Green also shutout Mississippi Valley State and defeated the Southland Conference's Northwestern State, 3-2, and Stephen F. Austin , 3-0. The Lady Demons finished second in the SLC last season at 15-3.
The Mean Green are outhitting their opposition this season, .237 to .157, led by the likes of Carnae Dillard (5.77 k/s) and Chelsea Abii (3.67 k/s).
Texas State was 2-2 going into Friday's matches alternating wins and losses with Lamar, Wake Forest, Houston and Baylor. The Bobcats lost to the Bears Wednesday night in four sets, 25-18, 23-25, 14-25, 23-25.
Texas State has three attackers averaging close to 3.00 kills per set: Lauren Kirch, Shelby Vas Matt and Alexandra Simms.
