All-Southland Conference First and Second Teams

ABILENE
- Junior outside hitter Jennifer Loerch Wednesday was selected as a Southland Conference honorable mention through a vote of the league's head coaches and sports information directors. The Georgetown, Texas, native is the second Wildcat in as many years to receive a Southland honorable mention citation, joining 2013 honoree Lexi Mercier.

Loerch led the Wildcats' offense throughout the season and finished the year ranked fifth in the Southland with a career-season best 3.71 kills per match. She also set career season highs with 419 kills, 1340 attempts, 15 aces and 254 digs.

Loerch has 992 kills through three full seasons and needs 215 more to crack the program's all-time top-10 leaderboard. This fall she set several career single-match highs, including 23 kills at Northwestern State on Oct. 2 and four assists vs. Jackson State. Loerch also hit .394 early in the year vs. Texas-Arlington, delivering 17 kills on 33 attempts.

The 2014 All-Southland Conference teams are comprised of 12 first-team and six second-team members. Teams are chosen by vote of the league's head coaches and sports information directors. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the league's head coaches and sports information directors. Recipients are placed by the number of votes received.

The 2014 Southland Conference Volleyball Tournament gets underway Friday in Natchitoches, La., with four quarterfinal matches. The quarterfinal and semifinal matches of the tournament will be streamed live on the Southland Conference Digital Network, available at Southland.org and on the league's Apple and Android mobile and tablet apps. The championship match will be carried exclusively on ESPN3 on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2:05 p.m., with David Saltzman and Brooke Bentley on the call.
