Savannah Smith's Wildcat Basketblog (Aug. 6)

Hey everybody, my name is Savannah Smith and I'm going to be a junior guard for the Wildcats next season. I love Jesus, country music, West Texas sunsets, the color pink and of course the game of basketball!

I'm from Dallas, Texas, which is where my family calls home. Family for me includes, my parents, Chris and Shanon, sisters Casey and Courtney and brother Preston. When we are not in Dallas…a lot of the time… We love to spend time together at our lake house in Granbury, Texas.

This summer has been wonderful, yet has gone by so quickly. I never went home after school got out. I stayed in Abilene and moved into my very own house. I have loved having my teammates Kelsey Smith and Renata Marquez with me in Abilene as well so we can workout hard against each other and get ready for this upcoming season. Oh and of course cook gourmet meals!

My job this summer consisted of taking care of three precious little kids and going to the pool almost every day. It wasn't a bad gig! I also took two online classes this summer was well. Another fun thing that happened this summer was my brother and his wife moving to Abilene! They now live a minute away from my house. It's been so fun having them so close!

However, as exciting as Abilene is… the highlight of my summer has been this past week as I'm currently in London interning for the USA Olympic Men and Women's basketball teams. One of the best parts of the trip so far is getting to know the players, including LeBron James, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. Working with and near them everyday has provided for very interesting stories that I will never forget. I have been blessed to get to experience an opportunity like this and Lord willing taking steps towards my future.

Well that's me! I hope Jesus has blessed your summer the way He has mine. Put all your trust in Him because He is the ultimate one in control of all things.

We hope to see all of you out at the games to support your ACU Wildcats!
