ABILENE - College tennis matches rarely get easier than the ones played by Abilene Christian Saturday at the Teague Events Center as the No. 6 Wildcats throttled both NCAA Division I Prairie View A&M and first-year program Texas A&M-Kingsville by scores of 7-0 and 9-0.
The Wildcats were so dominant in their season opener that they only lost one set to the Panthers, and only one point to the Javelinas. Each of the doubles teams won 8-0 vs. their Lone Star Conference rival and every Wildcat except nationally third-ranked junior
Julia Mongin (at No. 1 singles) posted a double bagel on the scoreboard. Mongin won 6-0 in her first set against Kingsville's Danielle Moore, and then 6-1 in the second.
Mongin's twin sister, Laura, was the only Wildcat to drop a set all day, falling 6-3 in the first frame at No. 3 singles to the Panthers' Lerato Ndlovu. Mongin would however rebound in winning the next two sets, 6-2, 6-0.

Madelyn Walker all started their seasons at 2-0.
Laura Mongin only played singles vs. Prairie View, and then Julia replaced her on the lineup vs. the Javelinas.

Julia Mongin and Reed at No. 1 (W, 8-2), Hermsdorf and Walker at No. 2 (W, 8-2) and Conrad and Delgado at No. 3 (W, 8-3). Versus the Javelinas they paired together
Laura Mongin and Hermsdorf, Reed and Conrad, and Walker and Delgado.
The Wildcats return to home action Sunday vs. Sam Houston State and Texas-Permian Basin. Matches are slated to start at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
