The Wildcats are making their home debut Tuesday after spending the first two weeks on the road, playing tournaments at St. Mary's and Angelo State, and starting their conference season with a five-set win at A&M-Kingsville.
The victory over the Lady Javelinas pushed ACU out to a 4-1 start, but a disappointing weekend in San Angelo dropped its record to 5-4 heading into this week's stretch of games which also includes road battles at A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's.
Senior
Jennie Hutt paced the Wildcat offense at Angelo State with 48 kills over the weekend while freshman
Sara Oxford and sophomore
Neely Borger contributed 43 and 36, respectively. They were also the team's leading blockers with a combined total of 17.
Hutt's efforts, which also included a .220 hitting percentage, 41 digs, five blocks and two aces, earned her a spot on the all-tournament team.
Kelsie Edwards averaged 4.56 digs through the four matches, and
Caley Johnson provided 7.92 assists. Freshman setter
Haley Rhoads played all five sets of the tournament finale vs. Texas-Permian Basin and was credited with 47 assists and eight digs.
Incarnate Word enters Tuesday night's match with a 4-5 overall record and 1-2 mark against the Lone Star Conference. The Cardinals have won four of six after beginning the year 0-3, and recently posted a 3-1 record at the West Texas A&M Tournament.
