RICHARDSON – One day after picking up his 11th tournament victory of his career, sophomore
Alex Carpenter, was named Lone Star Conference golfer of the week by league on Wednesday.
The sophomore took the Dallas Baptist University Invitational title shooting two-subpar rounds finishing at 5-under for a two-stroke victory. He shot a tournament low in Monday's first round with a 65 as he finished at 205 in three rounds.
Last week, Carpenter made his first PGA Tour appearance at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill where he narrowly missed the cut, after battling back to shoot 3-under in Friday's second round. Carpenter shot 10 over in Thursday's first round at Bay Hill only recording two birdies, but rebounded on Friday with four birdies on the front side and five total for the day.
ACU and Carpenter are back in action next weekend at the UCO/Kickingbird Classic in Edmond, Oklahoma.
