ACU Meets Rival Tarleton State

ABILENE – Jason Copeland and the Wildcat hoops squad open Lone Star Conference South Division play Tuesday night at Moody Coliseum against rival Tarleton State.
ACU enters Tuesday's Division opener at 8-4 while the Texans stand at 9-3. Both teams are coming off wins in Oklahoma where ACU knocked off Cameron, 67-55 and the Texas blasted Northeastern State 75-49.
The Wildcats are led by a pair of junior transfers Zach Williams who is averaging 11.8 points per game after missing a stretch of three games in December with injury. Desmond Woodberry is also averaging double figures at 10.8 points per game.
After struggling to score points last season a high pressure defense has allowed the Wildcats to pick off over 30 more steals than their opponents this season. ACU has also improved shooting nearly 70 percent from the free throw line this season.
Tarleton State comes into South Division play with two starters averaging in double figures led by Corin Henry (12.3) points per game and Devon Hills (10.8) points per game. The Texans have out-rebounded their opponents this season averaging nearly 10 more rebounds per game.
Tipoff from Moody Coliseum is set for 7:30 p.m. shortly following the women's contest.
