ACU: The Wildcats dismantled their LSC South Division rival, Tarleton State, scoring in all three phases on their way to a 65-3 win over the Texans in the division opener for both teams. ACU racked up more than 550 yards of fotal offense while holding the Texans to just 196 yards. ACU sophomore quarterback Mitchell Gale threw for a career-high 344 yards one week after throwing a career-high five touchdown passes. The defense scored on an Aston Whiteside interception return for a score, and the special teams got in on the act with an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown by Taylor Gabriel.
Texas A&M-Kingsville: The Javelinas scored four touchdowns – one on special teams – in the first half last Saturday and the Javelinas' defense pitched a second-half shutout in a 37-9 win over Incarnate Word in the LSC South Division opener for both teams at Benson Stadium in San Antonio. The Javelina defense held its fourth straight opponent to less than 200 yards of offense. The Cardinals gained 40 yards rushing on 36 carries and added 147 yards passing.

After Saturday's game, the Wildcats will be back at Shotwell Stadium for another key LSC South Division game when they host No. 10 Midwestern State in the annual Homecoming game at Shotwell Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in the rematch of last year's NCAA Division II first-round playoff game won by ACU, 24-21, in Wichita Falls.
