ABILENE – After picking up their first Lone Star Conference win of the season ACU volleyball team will return home for the first time in 2010 to take on Tarleton State. The Wildcats and TexAnns will tipoff in Moody Coliseum Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

STORYLINES
LAST TIME OUT
ACU volleyball finished off a perfect weekend going 4-0 in the St. Edward's Classic. The Wildcats picked up wins over Dallas Baptist and Northwest Missouri on Friday before taking Missouri Southern and host St. Edward's on Saturday. On Tuesday night ACU also earned a, 3-0 victory over Angelo State to open LSC play in San Angelo.
AWARDS SWEEP
Three Wildcats received awards from the LSC this week giving ACU a sweep of Offensive, Defensive and Setter of the Week honors. Sophomore
Kalynne Allen was named Offensive Player of the Week after picking up MVP honors at the St. Edward's Classic hitting .304 with 38 and eight blocks. Seniors IJ Moronu and
Shawna Hines were named Setter and Defensive Players of the week with Allen as well. Moronu had an outstanding tournament with four more double-doubles adding 149 assists. Moronu was also solid defensively leading the Wildcats with 51 digs and was one of three ACU players in double figure blocks with 12. Hines who normally leads ACU defensively did that, but was also the offensive leader with 39 kills and hitting .398 both team highs. Defensively Hines again led the Wildcats adding 18 to her total giving her 41 blocks through eight games.
NATIONAL LEADERS
After leading the NCAA DII in blocks per set a year ago senior
Shawna Hines currently ranks eighth through games on September 19. Hines has 41 total blocks averaging 1.37 per set while leader Carly White of Mount Olive has 61 blocks through 34 sets with a 1.79 per set average.
TEAM BLOCK PARTY
While the Wildcats are paced by Hines on defense, three players finished with double digit blocks over the weekend in Austin. Hines, IJ Moronu, and
Neely Borger all recorded double figure blocks giving the Wildcats a solid presence at the net. Moronu and Borger both finished with 12 blocks each as the Wildcats rank 10th in the country in blocks per set as a team at 2.48 per set.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will start another road trip with two LSC matches at Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce. ACU will finish off the road trip in Topeka, Kansas as they travel for an important tournament at the Washburn Regional Crossover.
