SAN ANTONIO – This weekend's season opening tournament has been changed due to a week of rain in the area.
The St. Mary's Classic will now be February 5-7 as the tournament moves to Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The round robin tournament features 13 teams from the Heartland and Lone Star Conferences.
The Wildcats will open up on Friday at 3 p.m. against UT-Permian Basin and Southeastern Oklahoma at 7 p.m. On Saturday ACU will play East Central at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. against Texas A&M-International. ACU will close out the tournament against Incarnate Word on Sunday at 10 a.m.
ACU will open up with the St. Mary's Classic for the fourth consecutive year as they are 12-8 under head coach Chantiel Wilson at the tournament. The Wildcats are also ranked in the first pre-season National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll at No. 17 after being ranked as high as No. 13 last year.
