ABILENE – The Abilene Christian men dropped their second straight Lone Star South game Saturday night inside Moody Coliseum to Angelo State, 85-70.
ACU took a 12 point into halftime, but the Rams used 41 combined second half points from the LSC leading scorer LaMarshall Corbett and Stavon Williams. The Wildcats had seven players score in the first half as they built an early first half lead.
The Rams opened the second half with a 37-8 run over the first 10 minutes to take a commanding 65-48 lead. ACU went cold from the field as they shot nearly 50% in the first half, but went 10 of 35 in the second half for 28 percent in the second half. The Wildcats were led by Ben Warton, who recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Angelo State hit their first five three pointers before missing their final three to finish 62% from behind the three point arc in the second half. ACU also had 17 turnovers in the game being out rebounded by seven rebounds.
Dustin Heiman and Kevin White were also in double figures for the Wildcats both finished with 12 respectively.
Corbett led all scorers with 30 points as Johnny Barnes added 18 rebounds for Angelo State.
ACU returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts Tarleton State in a game that will be played on the campus of McMurry University.
