LAST TIME OUT
ACU: ACU sophomore quarterback Mitchell Gale earned his second LSC South Division Offensive Player of the Week honor last Monday after his performance last Saturday night in Kingsville. In that game, Gale completed 34 of 51 passes for 417 yards and three scores to lead ACU to a 31-24 win over then-No. 6 Javelinas. The ACU running game produced just 23 yards, but the Wildcats became the first team to score more than nine points in a game or total more than 200 yards of total offense against the nation's top-ranked defense.
Midwestern State: The Mustangs improved to 5-0 overall last Saturday, but had to go to overtime at home to knock off the upstart Incarnate Word Cardinals, who are in only their second year of football and first in the LSC South Division. Incarnate Word tied the game at 31-31 on the final play of regulation, but MSU quarterback Zack Eskridge threw a touchdown pass on the Mustangs' first play of overtime, and that score stood up to give the Mustangs a 38-31 victory.
UP NEXT
After Saturday's game, the Wildcats will be back on the road next Saturday when they take on Incarnate Word in another LSC South Division contest in San Antonio. Kickoff from Tom Benson Stadium next Saturday night is set for 7 p.m.
