Wildcats Earn LSC Honors, Prepare for Lady Patriot Inv.

ABILENE - The Wildcats look to continue their hot streak as they were able to come back to Texas and go a perfect 4-0 on the weekend as they hosted the Abilene Christian University Classic.  ACU will play in the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Invitational before they begin conference play next week.

They will face Southwest Baptist and Arkansas-Monticello on Friday while Saturday's matches include Southern Arkansas and host Dallas Baptist.  DBU enters the tournament 3-2 and was a participant in the Maverick Showcase, but did not play ACU.

More good news came as a result of last week's tournament as junior middle blocker Shawna Hines was named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week, and has moved into fifth place on the school's all time blocks list with 298.  Hines and company  have also put ACU atop the conference in team blocks as they are averaging 2.34 per set.

Junior Jordan Schilling also earned LSC honors as Offensive Player of the Week as she took home the Tournament MVP title with her .317 hitting percentage and 15 service aces which led the tournament.  Schilling was outstanding recording three double doubles in the Wildcats four matches.

Joining Hines and Schilling was Ijeoma Moronu who was named LSC Setter of the Week as she recorded 154 assist helping ACU go 4-0 in the ACU Volleyball Classic at Moody Coliseum.
