Live Stats for ACU-WTAM match
CANYON – The ACU Wildcats were picked to finish secon in the Lone Star Conference this season, and they'll get a very early indication if they're playing at that level when they open LSC play Thursday at No. 7 West Texas A&M.
The three-time defending LSC champion Lady Buffs are 11-2 on the season and enter Thursday night's match coming off a four-match sweep at the Western Washington Tournament last weekend. The unranked Wildcats are coming off a four-match sweep at the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Invitational and have won eight straight matches.
They are two of the hottest teams in the league, and the matchup will be an early barometer for the Wildcats. The last time the teams met was in November 2008 when the Lady Buffs rallied in the fifth set to pull out a 3-2 win over ACU in the LSC Post-Season Tournament championship match.
West Texas A&M holds a huge series edge (45-8-1) and has won five straight matches over the Wildcats after ACU won all four meetings in 2004 and 2005.
The Zias of Eastern New Mexico are 4-9 on the season, although they enter LSC play on Thursday against Angelo State having won two straight matches.
