Final Tournament Results
EDMOND, Okla. ? Hilton Funk tied for 11th place overall and Abilene Christian's golf team placed eighth at the University of Central Oklahoma KickingBird Classic Tuesday at the KickingBird Golf Course. The Wildcats finished eighth out of the 18-team field and 96 golfers participated in the three-round tournament.
Through the first round ACU was tied for fifth through the first round, but a second-round 309 moved the Wildcats down despite shooting a 292 in round three to close the tournament. As a team, ACU shot a 904 (303-309-292).
Funk shot a 219 with 74's in each of the first two rounds and then he finished with a 71 to end the tournament. Cyril Bouniol was one stroke behind Funk at 220 shooting a 75 in each of the first two rounds and then a team low 70 in the third round.
Patrick Hanauer tied for 43rd place with a 229, Zach Sadau tied for 75th place shooting a 237, and Michael Andruchek tied for 81st with a 239.
The Wildcats will try to regroup for the Lone Star Conference Championships April 20-21 in Thackerville, Okla. where ACU will need a strong showing to qualify for the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament in Allendale, Mich. May 4-6.
