St. Edward's Invitational Results
AUSTIN ? Abilene Christian shot a third-round 318 to drop one place and finish ninth at the St. Edward's Invitational at the Grey Rock Club Tuesday morning. The Wildcats were eighth through two rounds Monday but ACU's five averaged an 80.6 in the final round in highly windy conditions.
Cyril Bouniol tied for 20th place to lead ACU's golfers; the sophomore finished with a 3-round total of 234 (77-76-81). Hilton Funk and Charles Levitte each tied for 25th place shooting a 235. Funk fired his tournament low in round one with a 76, shot an 81 in round two and finished with a 78 while Levitte opened with a 74, put up a 76 in round two and finished Tuesday with an 85.
Patrick Hanauer, who missed the Wildcats' first tournament of the year in Laredo due to injury, shot a 242 in his first competition back (81-81-80) and tied for 53rd place. Freshman Morgan Johnson rounded out the ACU five with a 248 including a tournament low 79 Tuesday.
Dallas Baptist held on to win the tournament shooting a 908 in the two-day tournament. St. Edward's, the host, placed second 13 strokes back at 921. ACU finished with a 3-round total of 940 (308-314-318).
The Wildcats will return to action March 9-10 in Mission Viejo, Calif. at the Southern California Intercollegiate.
