Wildcats Cruise to 104-49 win

A 19-0 second half run helped the Wildcats move to 3-0 Monday night

ABILENE – For the second time in three games the Wildcats scored over 100 points as they rolled to a 104-49 victor over Hillsdale College Monday night inside Moody Coliseum.

The win moves ACU to 3-0 on the season as the Wildcats never trailed in the contest. Both teams locked down on the defensive end as the Wildcats scored the game's first points 2:27 into the game as Abby Kabba was sent to the free throw line.

Sparked in the first half with 16 turnovers by the Saints and combined with nine Wildcat steals, ACU pushed their lead to 44-23 at the half. Kendrick Johnson helped lead the Wildcats in the first half as he scored eight points and seven first half rebounds. Johnson finished with 13 points and nine boards.

The Wildcats pulled away in the second half as they used a 19-0 run to extend the lead to 72-32 with just over 10 minutes to play.

Giordan Cole has proved to be a force in the middle for ACU early as he had a few explosive dunks in the paint finishing with 14 points. Cole also recorded three blocks including a rejection of a dunk attempt by Hillsdale's Sam Webber on the right side of the lane.

Eddie Thompson led all scorers with 15 points and also handed out five assists.

Keeping with the trend of having a Wildcat finish with a double-double in every game, Vladimir Gavranic scored 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Chadd Gehrke led the Saints with 14 points and hit 3-3 three pointers.

ACU is off for the holiday week, but return to action next Monday as they host Dallas Baptist. The Wildcats and Patriots will be the first double-header of the season as the women host Incarnate Word with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
