ACU set to host two LSC foes

ACU Volleyball Notes

ABILENE – After finishing the Pitt Sate Classic 1-3 a year ago the ACU Wildcats flipped their record last weekend as they went 3-1 at John Lance Arena. The wins moved the Wildcats to 15-5 as they begin the heart of Lone Star Conference play.

ACU (2-1 in LSC play) will host the Pioneers from Texas Woman's at 7 p.m. Thursday at Moody Coliseum. The Pioneers enter the match at 12-10 overall and 2-2 in the LSC.  TWU, which won four matches last weekend at the St. Mary's / Incarnate Word Tournament in San Antonio, dropped a five-set match to Dallas Baptist at home Tuesday night.

The Wildcats will close out the weekend Saturday at 2 p.m. when they host a red-hot Texas A&M-Commerce squad. The Lions enter the week at 18-5 overall and 3-1 in the LSC. Their lone conference loss comes at the hands of West Texas A&M, which also handed the Wildcats their only loss inside the conference.

TAMC also played at the Pitt State Classic last weekend, finishing the tournament 3-1 with wins over Dallas Baptist and Newman on Friday and a win over Missouri Southern on Saturday.

The Lions, however, dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 21 Pittsburg State. The Lions will travel to San Angelo on Thursday to take on the Rambelles in LSC action before Saturday's contest in Moody Coliseum.
