AMARILLO -- The ACU Wildcats ran their winning streak to six straight games Friday with two run-rule victories at the Holiday Inn / West Texas A&M Invitational softball tournament.
The Wildcats (6-3) beat Adams State, 14-1, in their first game of the day, and then came back later in the day to beat Colorado State-Pueblo, 12-2. Both games were played in cold and windy conditions, and junior transfer pitcher
Sarah Vidalin pitched both games, going the distance in both games to pick up her first two wins of the season.
In the win over Adams State, leadoff hitter
Allison Crouse had two hits and three RBI, while catcher
Samantha Borgeson had a two-run home run in the Wildcats' 10-run second inning.
In the win over CSU-Pueblo, it was the bottom of the Wildcats' lineup that did the most damage as the Nos. 6-9 hitters were a combined 8 for 15 with nine RBI, including three RBI apiece for the No. 8 hitter Daisy Barcena and the No. 9 hitter Heather Krumpols.
Vidalin pitched a combined 10 innings and struck out 18 batters while allowing just nine hits in the two games, including giving up just two hits in the win over Adams State.
ACU will be back in action Saturday at 11 a.m. when it takes on Panhandle State (Okla.), and then at 1:30 p.m. when it takes on Regis (Colo.). ACU beat Regis, 6-3, in last year's NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament.
