Wildcats finish crossover 3-0
ACU runs Moody winning streak to 26 matches
ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats had little trouble on Saturday in stretching its winning streak to 10 matches with 3-0 wins over both Southeastern Oklahoma State and Midwestern State at the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament.
The Wildcats beat Southeastern Oklahoma State, 30-19, 30-23, 30-19, before beating Midwestern State, 30-24, 30-25, 30-23, in the final match of the tournament. ACU's two wins at Moody Coliseum push its home court winning streak to 26 matches. ACU hasn't lost at home since a four-game loss to West Texas A&M on Oct. 11, 2003.
ACU will return to action Sept. 22 when it takes on Texas A&M-Kingsville in Kingsville in the first Lone Star Conference South Division match for both teams. ACU is the defending LSC South Division and LSC champion, and was a unanimous pre-season selection to win the LSC South title in 2005.
In Saturday's win over SE Oklahoma State, Michelle Bernhardt had 17 kills, while Ashlee Motola had 15. Setter Lindsey Martin had 47 assists, while Amanda Slate and Abbie Lowry each added nine kills. ACU hit .395 as a team in the win over the Lady Savages.
In Saturday evening's win over Midwestern State, the Wildcats were led by Slate who finished with 18 kills, while Bernhardt added 16 and Lowry 10. Martin had 46 assists for the Wildcats, who hit .333 in the match.
