Wildcats, Rams set to meet at Shotwell
ACU will try to extend win streak over ASU to three games
ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats will return to Shotwell Stadium this week for a Lone Star Conference South Division game against long-time nemesis Angelo State.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. The game can be heard locally on the radio at KULL 92.5 FM, or on the internet at www.tsrnsports.com.
The Wildcats are 2-3 overall, 2-2 in the LSC and 0-1 in the LSC South, and have lost back-to-back games to Eastern New Mexico and Southeastern Oklahoma State after a 31-14 upset win over then-No. 7 Tarleton State on Sept. 18. Angelo State, meanwhile, is 0-6 and mired in the longest losing streak -- seven games, dating back to the final game of the 2003 regular season -- of head coach Jerry Vandergriff's 23-year tenure.
ACU trails the all-time series (26-14-1), but has won two straight over Angelo State, 30-29 in 2002 and 39-23 in 2003. Last year's win was the first for the Wildcats in San Angelo since Sept. 1, 1983, and a win Saturday would give them their first three-game winning streak over the Rams since they won three straight from 1968-1970.
