Wildcats whip TexAnns, 3-0
ACU moves to within one win of LSC South title
ABILENE – ACU moved to within one win of its first Lone Star Conference South Division title Saturday with a 3-0 win over Tarleton State at Moody Coliseum.
The Wildcats improved to 23-7 overall and 8-1 in the LSC South Division with a 30-22, 30-22, 30-24 win over the TexAnns. ACU has already clinched a spot in the LSC Post-Season Tournament, which will be played Nov. 11-13 at the site of the LSC North Division winner.
ACU will return to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Angelo State in the division finale for both teams, and a Wildcat would give ACU its first LSC championship of any kind in volleyball. Angelo State is 7-2 in the division with losses to ACU (3-0) and West Texas A&M (3-2). ACU's only loss in the division came last week in four games at Eastern New Mexico.
The Wildcats were led Saturday by freshman Abbie Lowry, who had 14 kills and led an ACU offense that hit .318 in the match. After Tuesday's match against Angelo State, the Wildcats will close out the regular season next weekend against St. Mary's and Incarnate Word.
