Wildcats set to battle Javelinas
ACU on the road for final time in 2004 at No. 2 Kingsville
KINGSVILLE -- The ACU Wildcats will play their final road game of the 2004 season Saturday night when they take on No. 2 Texas A&M-Kingsville at Javelina Stadium.
The Wildcats are 4-4 overall, 4-3 in the Lone Star Conference and 2-2 in the LSC South Division entering Saturday night's game. The Javelinas are 7-0 overall, 7-0 in the LSC and 4-0 in the LSC South Division. Kingsville can win its 26th LSC championship with wins over the Wildcats and next week at Angelo State.
Saturday night's game will start at 7 p.m., and can be heard locally on KULL 92.5 FM or on the internet at www.tsrnsports.com.
The Wildcats are coming off a 37-17 Homecoming loss to Texas A&M-Commerce last Saturday in Abilene. That loss snapped a two-game winning streak that had given the Wildcats faint hopes of winning a second LSC South Division title in three years. However, those hopes no longer exist, and the Wildcats will close out the season next Saturday at 1 p.m. against Midwestern State at Shotwell Stadium.
The Javelinas, meanwhile, beat Eastern New Mexico, 29-22, last Saturday in Blackwater Draw, N.M., to take over sole possession of first place in the LSC South. Kingsville is eyeing another berth in the NCAA Division II playoffs after reaching the semifinals in 2003.
