Carter, Blau lead ACU rout of Tarleton
ACU's interior combination too much for TexAnns in 83-56 ACU win
ABILENE – Tarleton State had no answer for ACU's interior game Thursday night as the Wildcats rolled to an 83-56 win over the TexAnns in a Lone Star Conference crossover game at Moody Coliseum.
The win pushed the Wildcats to 9-7 overall, while the TexAnns fell to 4-9 overall with their eighth-straight loss. ACU will return to action next Thursday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Eastern New Mexico in an LSC South Division game. The Wildcats will also host West Texas A&M next Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Wildcats' tandem of Melanie Carter and Lynsie Blau shot a combined 19 of 21 from the floor, picked up 14 rebounds and scored 42 of the Wildcats' 83 points. Carter was 11 of 12 from the floor, while Blau was 8 for 9.
After taking an 11-point halftime advantage, the Wildcats took control of the ballgame midway through the second half with an 18-4 run that put them ahead 69-43. Carter had eight points in the run that gave the Wildcats a 26-point lead.
ACU's largest lead was 30 at 76-46 with 3:50 to play before settling for a 27-point victory.
Carter finished with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Blau had 17 points and six rebounds. LaTrisha Washington led the TexAnns with 10 points and seven rebounds.
