ACU takes three cross country honors
Murray, two athletes honored by league coaches

Abilene Christian University, the 2001 men's and women's champions in the Lone Star Conference, took three of the four year-end awards in cross country in voting by the coaches of the league.
Jon Murray, head men's and women's cross country coach at ACU was selected by his peers as the Women's Coach of the Year. Murray's ACU women's squad won the 2001 LSC championship, edging out Texas A&M-Kingsville for the honor.
Dr. Susan Payne, head men's and women's cross country coach at East Central University (Okla.) was tabbed by the league coaches as the Men's Coach of the Year. Payne led the ECU men to their best finish ever at the LSC Championships, where the Tigers finished second behind Abilene Christian.
Cassie Chaffin and Bernard Manirakiza, both of Abilene Christian, were named as the LSC Freshmen of the Year. Chaffin won the women's honor after placing third overall in a time of 23:36.27. Manirakiza was the men's honoree after placing second at the LSC meet in a time of 25:29.40.
