ABILENE - Abilene Christian Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president Kyle Karnei Thursday announced at chapel the start of a Teddys for Tots program, which will benefit the children of Hendrick Children's Hospital and Abilene's Sam Thomas Elementary School.

ACU's athletics teams will be raising money to purchase the Teddy Bears from Nov. 6 to 21 and plan to distribute the gifts prior to the Christmas holiday. There also will be a Teddy Bear (for new or gently used stuffed animals) collection center at Moody Coliseum during the Monday, Nov. 24 women's basketball game vs. Eastern Washington, and those who donate to the cause can have their names - or those of a loved one - written on a Teddy Bear ornament for the Christmas Tree located in the Teague Foyer.

Fans bringing a bear to the game will additionally receive a discounted admission of $5 per ticket.

All ACU students, faculty and staff, as well as the entire Abilene community are encouraged to participate.

Questions regarding the Teddys for Tots program can be sent to SAAC president Karnei via email.
