Erik DeRoo

Erik DeRoo enters his fifth season in 2020-21 as an assistant coach and the creative recruiting coordinator for ACU’s women’s basketball program. He was named to his current position by head coach Julie Goodenough in June 2016.

His responsibilities to the team include that of point guard development, scout team manager, high school recruiting, and leads all junior college recruiting efforts. DeRoo also oversees all social media and video needs for the program, and facilitates everything that occurs on the team's Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok accounts. He has developed the "Goodenough Series," "Three-Point Club," and the "Weekly All-Access Show" for social media as well.

During his time here at ACU, the Wildcats won the 2016-17 Southland Regular-Season championship before advancing to the 2nd Round of the WNIT. They also won the 2019 Southland Conference Tournament championship, which led ACU to the first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in school-history.

DeRoo oversaw the development of 2019 Southland Tournament MVP and 2019-20 Southland Conference Player of the Year, Brea Wright.

At the conclusion of his first season at ACU he had the opportunity to be a selected speaker at the 2017 WBCA convention. He was also selected to the 2019-20 WBCA 30 Under Thirty list and was also a finalist for the 2019-20 D1 Assistant Coach of the Year presented by World Exposure.

DeRoo came to the Big Country following two winning seasons with the women’s basketball team at Fresno State.

The Bulldogs advanced to the second round of the WNIT during his final two seasons there and posted consecutive top-three showings within the Mountain West Conference. Fresno State was 23-10 overall and placed third in its league in 2014-15 and were second in the Mountain West in 2015-16 (22-12 / 15-3).

DeRoo received his bachelors degree in health and physical education in 2014 and earned his masters in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport psychology in 2016.

He and his wife, Kim, were married during the summer of 2017, and have one daughter, Tatum, who was born in April 2019.
