Ashley Reeves

Ashley Reeves is entering her seventh season as a coach on the Wildcat Softball team in 2019. She was an assistant from 2011 to 2012, and returned to the club in the summer of 2014 before receiving her promotion to associate head coach in August of 2016.

Reeves' responsibilities with the Wildcats include working with slappers and base runners, assisting head coach Bobby Reeves with hitters, coaching outfielders, travel planning and recruiting. She also directs camps during the summer and winter breaks.

In her first season at ACU, she guided the team to a 28-27 record and fifth-place finish in the Lone Star Conference South Division, narrowly missing the postseason on the final day of the regular season.

The Wildcats finished 30-18 the following season and qualified for the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament where they went 1-2 with two losses to eventual national runner-up Emporia State (Kan.).

ACU enjoyed its best season to date as a DI program in 2017, winning 33 games and placing second in the Southland Conference at 20-7. Eight players made the all-conference list, including hard-hitting shortstop Peyton Hedrick, who was voted NFCA Second Team All-Region after leading the Southland Conference with a .765 slugging percentage, 15 home runs, 52 RBI and 13 doubles.

Prior to her time at ACU, Reeves spent three seasons as the head softball coach at Harding Academy in Searcy, Ark.

Reeves coached Harding Academy into the Arkansas state high school playoffs in 2010, advancing to the quarterfinals. She also served as assistant volleyball and basketball coach, and taught speech and Bible.

As a student-athlete, Reeves enjoyed a standout career at Texas Tech University (2004-07), where she earned all-Big 12 honors three times, and played for her future father-in-law and ACU’s current head softball coach, Bobby Reeves. She graduated in Spring 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in communications studies.

Reeves hit .379 (66 for 174) with one home run and 15 RBI in 2007 to go along with 24 stolen bases in 28 attempts. A stellar centerfielder and NFCA all-region honoree, Reeves committed just three errors that year for the Lady Raiders and had five outfield assists en route to being named Offensive Player of the Year.

As a junior, she set the Texas Tech single-season record for stolen bases with 34, the third-best total in NCAA Division I in 2006. She also hit .279 that season with a team-leading 51 hits from the leadoff spot, earning Texas Tech MVP honors. As a freshman, she was voted first team All-Big 12 after hitting .313 with 13 stolen bases.

A 2003 graduate of Lindale High School, Reeves lettered in volleyball, basketball, track and field and softball. Reeves and her husband, Tanyon, have three daughters, Kayson,  Brynlee and Adelyn.
